I designed product at Alipay (Ant Group) in the International Business Group, Forex trading team. I worked on three main projects across multiple spans at the company; one core project was designing and reworking Ant Group’s internal Forex trading platform.

Project

Alipay, Taobao, AliExpress, and Chinese cross-border travel leads to large currency imbalances, which are taken on by Ant Group. To hedge this newfound risk, Ant traders perform Forex swap trades in excess of $1 billion+ daily. However, the internal financial software had poor user interface and experience. I was tasked to introduce new features/capabilities into the trading platform and redesign it using the Ant design system. I did extensive user interviews with traders to see their specific problems and needs, and worked closely with the engineering team to understand specific financial/trading capability.

Result

The new trading platform directly improved trading capability and speed (36% increase end-to-end), and the new features gave the traders access to a multitude of different tools and trades to execute with banks and other counterparties.
